Our School

Joseph W. Humphries Elementary School proudly honors the legacy of the Honorable Joseph W. Humphries, a distinguished member of the Fulton County Board of Education. Since opening in 1916 as a small four-room school, Humphries has evolved into a thriving educational institution within the Atlanta Public Schools system, officially joining the family in 1951.
Our school has grown alongside our community, undergoing significant additions and renovations throughout its more than 100-year history, including a 2021 renovation that revitalized our historic building. These enhancements reflect our commitment to providing a modern and welcoming learning environment.
Today, Humphries Elementary is a vibrant hub of educational excellence, offering exciting programs and opportunities for our students. We emphasize building stronger community and business partnerships that enrich the educational experience, with a focus on improving student outcomes, particularly as measured by the Georgia Milestones Assessments.
Our initiatives in STEM and literacy, along with student clubs and family engagement events, foster student growth and achievement. At Humphries, our legacy is strong, our community is united, and our students are not just learning; they are soaring to success! We are dedicated to building bright futures every day as we work together to enhance our educational landscape.
