The Humphries News Network

Today, I had the exciting opportunity to shadow Forrest Mays and Zoe Mackey, two incredible members of the Humphries News Network (HNN)! I must say, it was an absolute blast! Their motivation and determination while creating their news segment were inspiring. They didn’t hold back during interviews with students and while recording their production.

When asked about their experiences as members of the HNN, they both expressed their love for talking and being in the spotlight! Forrest dreams of becoming a famous news anchor one day, while Zoe enjoys seeing herself on screen and sharing news with others. We also discussed some of the challenges they face. They mentioned that it isn't always easy to be critiqued by their peers, but they are both eager to keep improving. Mrs. Lanier remarked that both students are full of personality—and you can definitely see it! They work hard as perfectionists, practicing and memorizing their scripts, which requires a lot of time and effort.

Girls on the Run

Humphries Elementary is proud to recognize our Girls on the Run team. Team member Russia Rice shared, "There are a lot of things I loved about Girls on the Run. I was proud of myself for improving my run time each week. I also enjoyed exercising and getting healthy. I became best friends with Paris; we both loved the 'toy soldier' exercise! The most important thing I learned from being on the team was to never give up. I can't wait until next year!"
